Our Story
Hi! I’m Alex,
I’ve always been passionate about using food as medicine. After years of experimenting with my way of eating and some ups and downs, I believe that we, women, finally need to understand how hormone fluctuations throughout our monthly cycle affect our bodies and minds.
Once I’ve started listening to my body and nourishing it according to its needs during different phases, I unleashed my own natural healing power. This was when I realised that I want to share my knowledge and help other women experience the same benefits of healthy menstrual cycles.
As a real chocoholic, it always has been my dream to create a chocolate bar that I could enjoy every day, guilt-free, while supporting my body. Because I truly believe that food shouldn’t only be a fuel but also pure pleasure, I created Moonchy Bars – delicious and healthy bars designed to sync with the feminine cycle and supporting it.
I hold a master’s degree in strategic entrepreneurship and I strongly believe we need more female founders. Even though startups founded or cofounded by women generate more revenue than the ones founded by male entrepreneurs, women still garner less investments than men. The truth is that female entrepreneurs must contend with a wide range of challenges. Moreover, a lot of women struggle with a lack of confidence and underestimate their capabilities. My dream is that more and more women gain that confidence.
Girl, as long as you have the drive and the passion, you can do it. I mean what I say – it’s really hard to find a less confident person than me. Getting out of your comfort zone is hard but rewarding in the end. You can always contact me. When women support each other, great things happen.
Hello there! My name is Ananda,
At age 24, I lost my period for 1.5 years, making me realise this was a symptom of an eating disorder. After getting my period back in a natural way and sharing my story of recovery in a poetry book (Poems of Recovery - A young girl's path to recovering from an eating disorder and amenorrhea), I was determined to work on showing other people they can also create the life they want. Opening up and being vulnerable can be scary, but at the same time very rewarding when you see the domino effect it has.
When Alex and I met, there was an instant magic between us, and we discovered we both wanted to share the same message with the world - that everyone deserves to feel good in their bodies, and that menstruation should not be something to feel ashamed about, but something to be celebrated and supported. And what is a better way to do this than through amazingly tasty, natural, choc bars?
